Welcome to the UGA Alpha Chi Omega House!
1040 S Lumpkin St
Athens, GA 30605
Each fall, rising sophomores have the exciting opportunity to live in our beautiful and historic Alpha Chi Omega chapter house, located at 1040 S Lumpkin Street. Built in 1957 and last expanded in the late ’60s and early ’70s, this house has been a cornerstone of Beta Sigma’s identity for 61 years. Our house is thoughtfully designed across four levels, offering everything you need for living, studying, and making lifelong memories with your sisters.
The first level is where many of our chapter’s events take place. The Chapter Room provides a spacious area to seat members and host chapter events or functions. This floor also includes an Art Room, perfect for crafting banners and preparing for events, as well as an Elevator to ensure the house is fully ADA compliant.
The main level is the heart of the house. The dining room is where sisters gather for chapter meals, with plenty of seating to accommodate everyone comfortably, as well as a covered porch for enjoying meals or relaxing outside. The adjacent kitchen is equipped with a double serving line and buffet style dining. The sun porch, located directly off of our basement stairwell offers a sunny outdoor space to unwind with sisters. Additional spaces on this floor include the informal study, the Georgia Room, and the Formal living room ideal for studying or socializing, as well as the foyer and mail room.
The third level houses our bedrooms, which offer a variety of room layouts to accommodate 72 bed spaces, including 2-girl, 3-girl, 6-girl options, and a corridor leading to the 4 girl halls. The 4 girl rooms are larger and have larger closet areas. The other part of the third floor leads to the bottom and top four girl halls.. This floor also includes a social lounge featuring a butler’s pantry—perfect for unwinding with friends after a long day. The fourth level is a quiet retreat with a Study Room, providing a secluded, peaceful environment for focused work or late-night cramming. This floor also has additional Bedrooms and a Bathroom, making it another comfortable living space.
Fun Fact: Every Alpha Chi Omega house across the country features checkered floors! It's a signature design element that represents the tradition and unity of our sisterhood. So, whether you're in Athens or across the nation, you’ll always find that distinctive black-and-white checkered pattern as a part of our chapter's history and identity.
Living in the Alpha Chi Omega house is a unique opportunity to grow closer with your pledge class, connect with sisters across all grades, and experience the deep history of our chapter. This house truly is a home away from home!
